The Lady Guardians basketball team traveled to ICS-Hong Kong on February 23 to March 1 for the annual ACSC basketball tournament. During the days they were there, the girls worked hard and played to their full potential. Despite the tiring games the girls played, they fought hard till the end and placed fourth out of eight teams.

The girls first played Grace Academy, losing 43-54. This brought them to the loser bracket, where they played their second game against CAJ. The Guardians were victorious, winning 41-35. Their victory brought them to their third game against St. Paul, in which they won again 47-39. Their two wins resulted in another game against Grace Academy. They unfortunately lost this game, which set them at fourth place. Hana Ikeda (11) received All-Tournament honors.

The tournament experience was not only about basketball, but also bonding as a team. “I’m so glad my last basketball tournament was with this year’s team,” said captain Juhee Kim. “Going to Hong Kong and spending a week with my team made me feel much closer to them than I ever felt before.”

The ACSC tournament was the highlight of the girls’ basketball season and we should congratulate the Lady Guardians for their accomplishments. Go Guardians!
