Come out this Saturday here at YISS to support our swimmers as we have our first conference Swim Meet! Meet starts at 11am.
The Girls’ Varsity team began their season successfully with a very solid performance with a pre-season win against SIS on Friday. After conceding a goal in the early stages of the game, the group remained calm and responded with poise, earning goals from June Sohn and Kyla Swanson. Brigitte Lee was able to make some spectacular reaction saves to keep the game 2-1 at the half. The Lady Guardians continued to grow into the game and were able to add another goal from freshman Asia Yi to secure the 3-1 victory. The team will look to carry this momentum into the game today against TCIS.
The Boys Varsity Soccer team opened it season with a pair of Friendlies this past Friday and Saturday. Friday against SIS the guardians struck first when Chinu Kang beat the SIS keeper on a beautiful direct kick from just outside the 18. YISS went up 2-0 on a frantic scramble in front of the net that ended with Terry Lee working one in off the crossbar. The Guardians held on for a 2-1 win with keeper Andy Kim making some critical saves late in the game.
On Saturday YISS hosted sister school ICS-Pyeongtaek and ended up with a 4-0 victory. Chinu Kang scored on the Guardians first penalty kick of the year, and Jungho Lee, Shutaro and Terry Lee all scored in the traditional manner.
This Saturday, we have a big game against cross-town foes SFS starting with the girls at 9. We are also hosting the first KAIAC swim meet of the season. Let’s get a big Saturday crowd here! Let’s go Guardians! This has been Coach Hale…and…I’m…OUT.
