The “firsts” for ICS/YISS continued in 06-07 as the school’s named changed to YISS and it was the sport’s first year in KAIAC Division I. The challenges would now become greater as the “family” continued to grow stronger. The tougher regular season opponents made the team continue to strengthen throughout the season. The team finished in 3rd place in the regular season (behind only SAHS and SFS) with a record of 21-12 and finished 3rd in the tournament as well. The remaining ATMers (James Lee, Daniel Dong-young Kim, Kildong Kim, Joseph Rhee) were now juniors along with a newbie named Daniel Han, and the teams high rebounder/blocker Joseph Choi was now a senior captain. Major games during the season included 3 wins against a strong Daegu team and a three-overtime loss to SAHS that could have gone either way. For the 4th straight year, Joseph Choi received all-conference for his KAIAC play, and he finished his senior year with over 1,000 careers points and over 1,000 career rebounds. Hopes were high heading into Far East, as the team looked strong at the end of the KAIAC season. It was a disappointing tournament, however, with an extremely close loss to EJ King and a 5-overtime loss to a Daegu team that the boys hadn’t lost to during the season.
